Yamaha Bop Kit on ebay Last viewed: 1 minute ago
I've got the exact same kit, birch shells. Made very well, not your typical MIJ kit. Worth every penny.
$699.00 plus shipping to be exact

I thought the price was really good for the quality especially since it's a BIN or Make Offer They would probably take 600 shipped if the asking price is 699.00 I just looked again, Make offer or Best Offer
My bad. I didn't realize early Yamaha's commanded that much respect.
Those are not the desirable Yamahas. They are the C series which were their lower line. The type most people are looking for are the YD series, which are better made. The C series are cool looking and I'm sure they sound good but they are not top of the line.

I beg to differ, but the drums I have sound great and I've turned down $750.00. What is the main difference between the kits that would make them so much more desirable?
Just stating a fact. Not knocking your drums. The shells are totally different. Cheaper hardware. There was a reason why they made two types- the C series was less expensive as a result. I'm sure they sound great and they look great. But they are what they are- a lower line Yamaha set. Still way more desirable than a typical Pearl or Tama from that era.
As I've said before, I don't think all the C series drums are the same. My red thunder kit is of the highest build quality. The shells are birch/lauan like the YD drums but with no coating on the interiors. The lugs are a different design to the YD series but are the same quality. I've worked on both models and the earliest kits have a great build quality. The entry level models from the early 70s are not finished to the same standard. So I believe it's possible to pick up a C series kit with the same quality of material and build as a YD kit. However, I know some of the C series kits in the thunder patterns etc have reinforcing rings and 6 lug snare and maybe aren't as good but I haven't worked with any of those.
