Incredible job, Mike. I love the way the shell is worn in just the right way. Beautiful.Do you think the "33" represents the year? That would have been the first year for those hoops.

Actually it's "66"...I'm told those are manufacture's marks.

That info came from Dr. Wenk a while ago. I really miss his input re: Slingerland drums, history etc.

That is so strange...painting over such a beautiful drum..

But,remember the 1920's L & L DeLuxe AKA Black Beauty and Leedy Black Elite snares I found just 2 houses down from me 1-1/2 years ago that were covered in turquoise paint?Lame

Turquoise paint was a little-known option in the 1920's. You shouldn't have removed it.

I once got a white enamel/Art Gold L & L 6.5 x 14 Inspiration Model that was covered in lime green contact paper...how did your turquoise beauties turn out?

Yeah I know, he was a great resource. I wonder if he bailed out of the vintage drum thing...or...maybe he's too busy with his day gig...? Either way it's too bad as I have a ton of photos/questions for him...just think if he was to do a Slingerland book.
