Half naked drummers Last viewed: 2 hours ago

I agree. I despise seeing bare chested drummers. Put on a friggen shirt!

I recently read an article about a kiler 12 year old drummer - guess what, photo of him....no shirt!

Gross. Put some clothes on. Same goes for drummers wearings shorts. Peart does it, Phil Ehart. Love them but show some class. Can you imagine the greats dressed like that ?? Buddy Rich!?

I've always thought the dress code for the band should match the gig. As a teenager, I once played a spring break gig on a hot stage on the beach, and shirtless with shorts made sense. Likewise, if the jazz quartet I'm playing with now is booked for a formal cocktail reception, tuxes are a must.

Allowing a drummer to play shirtless on a national TV show such as The Voice, is just the producer's lame attempt to look "edgier" and more contemporary than American Idol and America's Got Talent. C'mon, it's a TV show, not Lolapalooza. Put a shirt on!

Who cares? not me, I never watch that crap! Reality/ contest tv, performing, art is not a contest, for tv ratings.

BUT

With regard to dressing for the part, maybe you are not the demographic the producers are looking to attract and hold. And maybe the shirtless guy tests well with THAT demographic.

Just like when my parents ridiculed the Beatles long hair, and the first time performers came on without ties and suits. If it's about the music, then listen to the music and forget the clothes.

Personally I play best in shorts, t-shirt and bare feet. But I put up with wearing more at some gigs. I have quit bands and given up gigs because they insist I wear a "costume" and I want to enjoy myself and play my best not impress with my wardrobe.

What's the difference between a musician with tattoos or a pro sports player with tattoos? Both can be seen on TV, any time. Maybe just get over it (?). I don't have tattoos, nor would I want one, but today, it's totally acceptable and seen everywhere, on anyone.BPS - Maybe just watch Lawrence Welk reruns. :-)

I do watch Lawrence Welk, are you judging me now? maybe you should watch some musicians that actually know how to play. Its one thing to voice your opinion on a topic posted, but another to start jabbing other member, in all the years I've been here I've never resorted to that sort of thing. I guess you words speak volumes of who you are. Looks like you are in the minority anyway.

I don't see the problem. Enough female pop queens perform in next to nothing. Also it worked for Iggy Pop. Now if the guy in question was sporting a well seasoned beer gut then......................
