20's Leedy mahogany snare & bass. Help appraise Last viewed: 1 minute ago

Hello.

I found these 1920's mahogany Leedy drums and trying to figure out a Fair Market Value, not retail. Both drums are in nice shape and seem to be all original with the exception of the snare heads. The bass has original calfs and comes with original spurs. All the brass hardware is in nice shape. As you can see there is a small hole behind one of the snare lugs. This I can repair. The snare is 14" x 4" and the bass is 14" x 28"

I have a very limited time to make this purchase since I am only in this town for a few more days.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks,

How much is the seller asking? I've found that the resale market for really old snares like these, no matter how rare they are, is limited. If you're buying to keep forever, fine.

He is asking far too much I believe. $1000.

I was considering spending $700. at the most.

Your price is closer to the market value. Nice drums but I wouldnt pay $1000 for them. Offer him $700 and see what happens. Good luck.

These are really cool drums but I am guessing unless that snare can fetch $500.00 on it's own that $700.00 is still too high. I would have a hard time getting $500.00 for my Leedy Black Elite and I am guessing this snare is not of the same market value. I would say under $500.00 total unless there is something really rare or unique about this snare that I do not about.....but once again they are really cool drums!

I agree $500.00 is the going rate for these two Leedy drums the snare drum is the money drum of the two.

Hard to sell a 28" single tension BD......takes up lots of room too.....

Pass..unless you REALLY gotta have them.....nice snare though....

If you really want these tell the seller you're leaving town and want to buy them and you have $______ to spend. Hard to pass up a sale in this so-so economy. But easy for me to say...it's your money.

Depending on condition/size your Black Elite could be easily be worth more than 500.00....if you want to send me a photo or three I'd happy to look at it for you.... mike@curottodrums.com

I agree with Mike. There is one on ebay that is sitting on Ebay at $935 right now. I just picked up a 4.5x14 and yours would look great sitting next to it.
