$5000 monster chrome ludwig kit.....story?

Loading...

I saw this on ebay wondered if anybody knew the story or history of this kit?

The ebay advertisement has very little in the way of information.

I can't imagine that it's sale or existence could go undetected by the vintage drum forums detectives.

COW, 6 ply Ludwig shells. I don't see 5k, but then I would expect that on a Stainless Steel kit from a few years earlier, not a COW.

Doesn't look all that old, if you were to go and order a classic kit today, (first of all cow is no longer available) it would be well over $5000. It's gonna take a special person to buy this set. Probably someone really into Eric Carr from KISS.

I for one would love a deep sized octa plus set in cow with modular mounts.but not this one, too confused.

I'm easy give me 6 thru 16 toms, 18&20 floortoms, 2 24 kicks and a colosseum snare.

Can you imaging how long it would take to correctly tune all of that? I guess at some point, close counts. My arms are probably not long enoigh for that! When I was in high school I would have killed for this kit though. Cool Dude

I can't imagine a standard-size drummer can reach those cymbals.

That is so much to take in at one time. Very cool setup, wrap and exercise room! Not for one of those cozy lil' small room gigs. Hard cases would be a small fortune.

...as would the truck and it's associated insurance and maintenance costs. Plus you'll need a good drum tech and four stage hands to load-in and out. Coffe breaks every two hours, four hour minimum, meal penalty at five hours, overtime at 8 hours and any hours worked between midnight and 8:00am. There are a lot of hidden costs with something like this.... Falling Do

There is another as well for sale on CL & ebay & has been up for months. Yes, this is for the Eric Carr/Alex Van Halen fans for sure.

Yup, I would of loved this kit when I was in high school too!

I bet they thought they would never be selling this when it was ordered.

Here's the other. Check out the bass drums:

Still, it sure would be fun to play some Iron Maiden on these!

I always hear guys complaining about big sets and loading.

I'm not talking this triple bass ridiculousness, but a standard 9pc with hats three crashes ride and china can be loaded in by one person in the 15 min. That most venues give you.

No you can't watch the other bands because you are staging everything in the parking lot, and no you can't drink with everyone afterward because you gotta get your gear off quick ( besides a DUI will put an end to you giggin real quick). And then load it up in the truck back out in the parking lot.

Pre show jitters help too, use that energy to get your kit up there fast.

Worst case scenario get the bass player or vocs. To at least haul some stands up on stage.
