Awesome job! I have an Oaklawn 6.5x14, they sound incredible, congrats!

Thanks, Dolfan. Did you look at the build pics I posted in the Restore section? It was a fun build.

Thanks Steve, It was your 6.5x14" George Way Concert Aristocrat that inspired the build of this one. It wasn't quite physically possible to get the depth down to a 6.5" without drilling all new lug screw holes, so it ended up just under 7" in depth, or 6.5" plus... ...When you get a chance could you post a pic of your GW Concert Aristocrat? I don't think everyone has seen it and it's a beauty, also extremely rare.

It's one of my favorites and a super rare hard one to find. It took me a few years to finally negotiate this one into my collection!

It's faded and the lugs are dipping into the shell but it's tone can not be duplicated!

Not looking to start a Vintage drum fight. I like them all. Sometimes I wish I didn't, Then it would be easier to pass on some...

So tell me of this "one for one" lug thing that DW do - this would explain why I've had problems getting extra DW lugs (though I managed to anyway).

That aside, if you suddenly find yourself with a shell or two to spare, let me know.

Simple, dw doesn't want their lugs on anything but a dw and I guess Camco would be the only exception. I use the dw retailer out of Salt Lake City, Ut. because of his across the board 40% off retail, no taxes and free shipping. Sean Chase at BackBeats Drum Shop (801) 274-8844 He can also order you the Vintage style Classic bass drum T-Rods that look identical to the Camco BD Ts only with finer threads. Not a protected item.

I guess it's understandable from DW's point of view. When I still lived in Europe I got a bunch of lugs from a fellow Camco enthusiast in Holland - who just happened to be a drum dealer as well which was convenient. He definitely knew how to work that system.

The thing about the t-rods is very useful information despite the pesky thread size - might have a bass drum project coming up. I did pick up a whole set (16) of these from the LA Pro Drum Shop maybe five years ago when I was visiting but just assumed this was an aberration or leftovers from that Buddy Rich kit run they did.

DW's situation down here went a bit pear-shaped with the demise of one of our biggest retail chains recently so may try a couple of the US folks. Much appreciated.

If you call Sean in Salt Lake, he will get you as many dw Vintage Style T-Rods as you need for just $2.00US each. You might have to pay for shipping but that would be reasonable compared to what I have seen on ebay...

The dw lugs deal is you have to turn one in to be able to buy one. You don't have to turn in the insert or the mounting hardware though and the new ones will come with all that, including shell gaskets if you ask for them. Also you can get any finish you like (Gold or Black Chrome or?) it doesn't have to be what you turned in. Last but not least, if you have pictures of your Camco's or vintage DWs that you would be willing to share, they are just as drum crazy or obsessed as we are...Lol... Also PM about your shell needs I might have an extra or 2
