What's the real story about these thin wraps, that cost around $70??? I have a lower end kit that the wrap looks pretty bad, and want to spruce the kit up a bit.

It is a little thicker than shelf paper, I wrapped an old Rodgers set with it, it looks good from a distance but if something rubs it it will tear. I was happy with the finished product. I did not take the backing of the wrap off, it comes out smoother. It did ripple a little when attaching the hardware. I will post some pics later

A lot of the newer drums being made use this thin stuff. The only way to get some of the re-issue colors is in this thin wrap. Ludwig's Mod Orange, Citrus and Black Galaxy re-issues is all thin wrap. I'm not crazy about it, but it does work and I don't think that once it's glued down it'll wear any worse than the heavier old stuff.
Everybody is trying to save a buck and cut corners. It's a shame, quality always goes down as a result. Wrap is another reason why older sets are valuable.

Here is a pic of mine wrapped with the thin wrap. These had marble shelf paper when I rescued them out of someones attic.
