Thanks grantro. I will get some more pics up. I'd like to know more about the cymbals. The high hats are zildjian and they are both autographed on the underside. Probably shouldn't be playing those, huh? I saw them in another post but that was hours ago. The other two cymbals are marked "avedis zildjian". Really hard to make out. Ok, I'm off to the cymbal section.

You are showing the correct things to ID your cymbals, the stamp and sig. under the bell will get you what you need !! Are the HH cymbals K Zildjian ?

Hi Bob and welcome~! Great score on the Ludwigs! Truly a great buy and you'll have a blast cleaning them up and learning to play. It's VERY addictive!! Trust me. I bought a project kit last Jan. I finished them shortly after and working on kit #2 as we speak. This forum is a great source of info with some real nice people!

Dude you have no idea. I once found an old Colt single action 1902 at a garage sale. I asked if she had any guns for sale and she went inside and brought out 5 old guns. Bought them all for $200. Guns are my real hobby. I buy what ever I can. But I am always hunting, looking for a deal.

W e l c o m e! That is a killer deal you found. The snare drum alone is worth two to three times that if not more. Those are great drums and great cymbals. Fantastic way to start playing.

This will show you how ignorant i am about drums. I don't know if the HH cymbals are K Zildjian. I know they are Zildjian. What does K mean? lol I took some more cymbal pics. Should I post them on the cymbal page?

Firstly, Welcome to VDF! Secondly, excellent score!

Now, the trademark stamps you posted earlier indicate that the cymbals are 1960s Avedis, or A, Zildjians. If you can post pictures of the top and undersides, I may be able to tell you if they are early or late 60s.

Please post pictures of the trademark stamps and the "autographs" on the hihats. If they are K Zildjians, the trademark stamp will read "K. Zildjian" kinda like the others say "Avedis Zildjian." It may also say "Istanbul" or if you're real lucky "Constantinople." By the way, K means Kerope Zildjian, a member of the Zildjian family from years back.

Post pics here so the followers of this thread can see, but you should also post them in the vintage cymbal section. Drumaholic is our resident master trademark decipherer. He will see them if you post them there and he can give you a very accurate date range of when your cymbals were made, as well as value if you'd like.

I hope this helps!

Lynn
