C & C drums???

Loading...

As a player of vintage drums, I'm leery of buying new instruments. But I have the opportunity to trade my Ludwig Vistalites for a C & C player date kit with luan/mahogany shells. They look pretty cool. Anyone have any experience with them, pro or con?

Thanks.

I was just checking out a kit on Sat., the 20, 12, 14 with the darker red stain, excellent!!!! The bass drum killed, rest of the kit sounded pretty darn good also! I know they go for around $1300 without the snare, I am considering scoring a kit!

I haven't played them but I did listen to a sound file on the Memphis drum shop website, and they sounded killer, especially the bass drum.

From what I've read in magazines and on forums, they've always been well-built and excellent sounding drums. If memory serves me, weren't they also one of the first companies to offer those beautiful custom abalone wraps?

The only thing I know about them are that they sound great! Never played one, but sat not twenty feet from a C & C kit a few years back, at an outdoor blues gig at a winery in the area. The sound impressed me enough to even remember them.

That I know of, I've never seen another.

I live in Kansas and have known Bill Cardwell and Jake (his son) for years. I used to manage Supersonic Music which was actually C&C music before he sold it and moved to Gladstone to build drums. He and Jake would come by and grab shells from Derek Sharp (owner/builder of TreeHouse Custom Drums) before C&C built their own "Gladstone Shells". I will tell you this, there is absolutely ZERO lack of quality with these drums. Jake is OBSESSED with his attention to detail and what goes into his drums. I have the opportunity to play lots of different kits since C&C sponsors every large event with multiple bands. The back-line is always C&C and they never cease to amaze me.

Now with the player date kits: They are a bit more "mass produced" but I have played a few and they are sweet. I played a 20-12-14 that sounded like a 22-13-16. White Denim's drummer plays a 20-12-14 that sounds like the greatest bop/rock kit you've ever heard.

Long story short, if you are a vintage drummer and want a new kit, go with C&C. That's what they are aiming for! They love vintage drums and want to carry on the traditions of old with unbelievably high quality in mind.

C&C is relatively local to me. There was a nice article in a local magazine about them a few weeks ago (http://inkkc.com/content/cc-drums-is-on-a-roll/ ). I met a few of the guys that work and sold a few vintage pieces to one of them. Nice guys who appreciate vintage and new drums.

I looked into them a couple months ago when I noticed that whenever someone was playing on Conan, SNL, or Letterman that I kept seeing their logo on the drums of bands that I liked. It seems that the sound of the drums are kinda what got me looking too. Seems to me that it's also a lot of bands that are going for a vintage kind of sound. They all look pretty sweet too.

Great. Thumbs up all around. You guys have me psyched for this kit!

So is it also agreed then that this trade for my black smoke Vistalites is a good one?
