Been listening to a lot of old vinyl lately and just wanted to get some new stuff to listen to. That being said, I was curious what some forum members favorite jazz drumming albums are. It doesn't have to be specifically highlighting drumming, but albums where the drumming is exceptional or stands out.Thoughts?
Jimmy Cobb on Wes Montgomery's "The Verve Jazz Sides" (Double CD)
Elvin Jones on Coltrane's "Heavyweight Champion" (multi-disc set)
Art Blakey's "Caravan"
Tony Williams on "Kind of Blue"
Connie Kay on Milt Jackson & Coltrane's "Bags & Trane"
Any Buddy Rich album
Krupa vs Rich (or, something like that - it's smokin')
This is a trick question for me, as you can tell. Too many great ones to single out just one.
