I agree. I think that this is Ernie the generic Asian knock-off of a Slingerland muffler. Isn't it interesting that the Asian drum makers in the 60's chose to copy the designs of Slingerland Stick Saver hoops, Slingerland internal tone controls, Slingerland Sound King lugs, Slingerland Zoomatic strainers, even Slingerland shaped badges? I don't think that it had anything to do with patent or copyright infringement. They just liked the looks of the Slingerland parts more than other brands. The knock-off drum makers had total disregard for proprietary designs or the intellectual properties of companies in other countries. Samsung found out just yesterday that this kind of crap is more stringently protected today.

You are "quite right, sport". I've even seen some lame copies of Leedy lugs. But, we don't see much Ludwig copying, do we?

Did they copy Rogers at all?

I think I saw a kit once with fake SWIVO mounts...

I have a MIJ metal snare that have lugs that appear similar to Rogers lugs. The badge says "HAMMER".

Pearl, in particular, copied the hex rod/ball & socket designs in the 60's. That's one more reason that I have an extremely low opinion of that brand.
