Is there a head that will fit on a 20" Gretsch 60s Roundbadge bass drum? Apparently, the 20" Remo Emporer does not fit...just tried that. Geez...we all have to start somewhere. Gretsch is a new world for me. Never had any trouble with my vintage Ludwigs...
Heads for vintage Gretsch 60s roundbadge bass drums
I just added a 20" Evans coated reso head and an Evans E-Mad batter to my late 50's Gretsch bass drum, (20" drum,) went on easy. Check your drum for roundness and try Evans heads. I use Evans almost exclusively. Great drum heads.

I'm guessing your bass drum is wrapped right?
Some of the Gretsch shells were made closer to the stated diameter (14x20 was close to 14x20 instead of 13+x20...then adding the wrap made for a very tight fit for modern heads. Aquarian makes a Modern Vintage Series that fit larger. I have the same trouble with my Gretsch 14 floor tom and the Aquarian heads fit beautifully.

Yes, it's a sparkle wrap. I was just looking at the Aquarian products and that looks to be the solution...although I think it's actually the American Vintage series from them, which has a slightly large hoop diameter...I just ordered one!
Yes - Amercian Vintage......man getting old sucks haha.....but it beats the alternative.......death.......
