I have to disagree with you here. It's not obviously a 6ply shell. And if the silver sealer could lead someone to that conclussion it could be wrong. My late 50's Gretsch snare is 3ply and it has silver sealer.
When I did a search for a 3ply shell for some reason his drum came up. I assumed it was 3ply (wrongly I now know).
Just look at it this way....if you were selling a 6ply shell and someone sent you a message stating they were interested in you 3ply shell.....what would your reply be?? Mine would be --sorry it's a 6ply shell - thanks for looking.....something like that.
This just in:The seller has agreed to refund me - here's his note to me posted on paypal:
Hi Gary I did think on this over night. Like I had said I on my part never said it was 3 ply or 6 ply I do not know any info on this matter. Please send the shell back to me and I'll refund not 220.00 but 211.00 as I am charged a fee with pay pal. again
It's better than not getting a refund but I will be out of pocket about $90 after the $220 refund. I paid a fee to the post office $37 when I picked the drums up (Customs and tax etc.). I will have to pay for the shipping back to the seller - $45+. total just over $300 - 211.......$89 in the hole.
I don't know if Paypal will charge me for helping with this. Does anyone here know?
It's a Gretsch snare shell. Gretsch=6 ply. It's pretty much comon knowledge. He didn't misrepresent, he didn't supply much info at all, he let the pictures do the talking. You saw something that wasn't there.
