First, let me say THANK YOU to all of my fellow-forum members for all the positive feedback. It's truly appreciated! Your response is a bit overwhelming to tell you the truth.
Bowing
My intent with the display was to provide a sample of snare drums from as many of the American drum-makers as possible with the limited amount of space I had to work with. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to include some of my favorites like my George Way "Casino" model, my Ludwig Downbeat or any of my Supras. Nevertheless, I feel extremely fortunate and am very grateful for the opportunity that was presented to me.
In response to some of the individual comments:
leedybdp: I actually designed the wording on the banner and also determined which drummers would be featured on it. The display boards are also mine as well as two tri-fold boards that, unfortunately, I couldn't fit "behind the glass." You might be able to see part of one of them to the right of the display. The other isn't in any of the pics, but features some of the vintage kits I've purchased and "cleaned up" over the years. I had a wonderful lady who helped out TREMENDOUSLY with the actual "placement" of the drums and the display boards. We originally had most of the drums "raised" on the wall. However, due to the respective weights of the drums and our concern of possible breakage of the hooks holding them up, we decided to place the heavier pieces on acrylic stands on the lower surface behind the glass.
Super B -- The display is actually located at the Warren, MI Community Center, located at 4560 Arden, which is just west of Mound Road between 13 & 14 Mile Roads.
fishwaltz -- You and I must have the same sick sense of humor. I was originally thinking of putting "Vintage American Drums......You Can't Beat 'Em....or Can You?" on my banner prior to deciding on a somewhat shorter and simpler wording. Great minds think alike I guess!
longjohn -- Here's an index of the snare drums that are displayed:
1. Rogers "Holiday" model -- original White Marine Pearl;
2. Ludwig "Super Classic" model -- original Blue Sparkle Pearl;
3. J.W. York & Sons -- bird's-eye maple;
4. Slingerland "Super Gene Krupa" model --original Champagne Sparkle Pearl;
5. Rogers "Banner" model -- custom painted Red, White & Blue Sparkle;
6. WFL "Buddy Rich Be-Bop" model -- original White Marine Pearl;
7. Leedy "Reliance" model -- Mediterranean Pearl wrap from Precision Drum;
8. Slingerland "Deluxe Student" model -- original Capri Pearl;
9. Ludwig & Ludwig "All-Metal Separate Tension" model;
10. Leedy & Ludwig "Broadway New Era" model; original Black Diamond Pearl;
11. Gretsch "Progressive Jazz" model -- original Silver Satin Flame;
12. Slingerland "Gene Krupa Super Radio King" model -- original Black Diamond
Pearl.
Yoshi -- As stated above, #5 is a Rogers Banner model snare drum with a custom paint job on it.
