Pearl Custom Z / CZX drums

Loading...

Here's a picture of my Pearl Custom Z drums in Birdseye Maple finish, which later became the CZX series. The Custom Z's / CZX series were only made for a few years due to the cost.

Will Calhoun of Living Color was one of the artists who played the series.

My sizes:

10x10, 12x10, 13x11, 16x16.

I am looking for a matching bass, a 14" floor tom or another 16" floor tom, so I can use one of them as bass. If anyone is aware of any of these for sale or trade, please let me know.

These drums are stunning in person.

Did they even make 14" floor toms in that series? I thought I remember only 16" and 18" ones available.

Those are sweet! You will, however, have to keep an eye on ebay. Set up a search with your terms on it and it will inform you of anything that comes up in you parameters.

They did make 14"x14" toms. I would need to look at some catalog scans to see if they were actually floor toms, or just hanging toms.

Thanks Jonni. I do have those searches set up, but these rarely pop up.

Someone posted a drum a few months ago as a buy it now and by the time i saw my email it had already sold with a Buy it Now.

Someone from Canada lists a 4 piece set for something around $5000 every so often. Obviously, while the value is high for these drums, it isn't that high. Excited

Hi Jamcotte,

I actually have a bass converted from an 18" virgin floor tom and a 10" tom on it's way to me. I pulled a deal with a guy for my 10" tom and bought one that has been cut down a bit.

I remember talking to you quite a while ago, but off the top of my head can't remember the specifics of the trade you proposed.

Hit me with your specs again if you wouldn't mind.

Thanks.

Beautiful drums! The color was Champagne Lacquer, which was applied over the exterior Birdseye maple exterior. I have the Pearl 1990 catalog, which is the first catalog these drums came out in. There were no 14x14 floor toms, only a 16x16 and an 18x18. There was, in fact, a 14x14 tom! It came with Pearl's tom mount already installed. The tom part number was CZX-214ED. The CZX drums were big and HEAVY...but beautiful!
