60's Slingerland Jam Session?

Loading...

I am trying to figure out what these Slingerlands are. The lady I got them from said they were early 60's. I looked in the catalogs and the sizes match up (20" 12" 14" snare) to a "Jam Session" but mine has a rail mount. They are super clean. No extra holes, tight wrap with almost no fading that I can see. Also came with the kick pedal and the old Avedis crash.

Can someone tell me what would these be valued at?

I'll go with that after going through the catalog pages.....the 73N Jam Session.....it's in the catalogs from 1963-1971. Someone probably upgraded to a rail mount when they ordered the kit instead of opting for the old clipper mount......I'm sure some of the slingy guys out there can narrow down the year a bit better than I can for you....

Check inside the shell, if they are clear there is probably a date stamped.

Inside the snare its stamped MAY 65. The serial number on the snare is #63218. The bass serial is #169045 and the 12" is #162543.

Judging by the serial number chart and the serial numbers you provided....I'd say the tom and bass are somewhere between 1967 and 1969?

Thanks everyone. What is the deal with the big gaps in the serial numbers?

This was just a 3 piece set then yeah?

Anyone have any idea on what its worth?

Nothing that I can see is missing other than if it came with a cowbell or any of that stuff. I put everything I got with it in the pics. I hadn't ever saw a foot pedal like that one but I think its pretty cool as far as the way it sets up. How are they playability wise? This set is going to clean up so nice! I almost think it will look new. The snare hoops are a little "spotty" like they are about to turn to pitting. Does that make sense? Anyway I got to them just in time to clean them up before they got to far! Thanks again guys!

My previous post has what I think about the playability. the rims are steel one and are notorious for pitting

I meant the playability of the kick pedal! Sorry! That was confusing the way I wrote it!

I looked inside the bass drum and tom today. I was surprised the inside looks like it has been painted a skin tone color. The bass drum had no stamp date on it. The tom only had a P stamped in it with no date. Is this normal?

I played my kit today, and it's my favorite. I love the sound on those drums !
