Flaking? That's not good. It is separating from the metal as you know. Re-chroming would be the best answer. For surface rust, nothing beats a 24 hour...

Thanks! For 75 years old, I was amazed at how clean the chrome came after some Brasso and lots of finger pain. None of the lugs are cracked, Re-rings...

Only refinished in clear poly due to a spray paint job in the past. Upgraded chrome hardware, first of the clam shell strainers. Stunning sound!
