My guess would be that your kit is indeed an original factory kit, but from a transition period, and that Sonor took what they had as far as shells go...

Modifying hi hat stand for older small-hole cymbals

I have sanded down the plastic base on a couple of Yamaha 740 stands so they fit the smaller holes. The Yamaha clutch fits as is. /Magnus
