Hi Wayne, Here's a pic of my Univox 20" bass. MIJ 70's I think with Pearl lugs and consollette. Looks like 5-ply with Mahogany outer and inner plies....

Nice lot of snares! Those also make great extra toms in a kit as well as "auxiliary snare" when needed for deep tone snare work, not to mention a heck...

I think Pearl and Star were attempting to produce "American" quality. Remember the first transistor radios that came out of Japan to compete with RCA....
