Civil War drums usually have no metal parts. That's probably a "Lodge Drum" from later in the 1800's?

Near the end of the vistalite days (1980?) Ludwig made an 8 lug white vista lite snare drum. I sold one to Peter Erskine last year.

I've not seen any difference in Ludwig red sparkle since they went to a glitter wrap in the later 1950's.
