My Pearl Jelly-Bean Crystal Beats
This kit is the same age as I am, from 1973. I've seen crystal beats usually in one color but when I got this set for my 10th birthday, this was how they came. I had the original clear 5x14 snare but it cracked. I've replaced it with a pig lite acrylic snare.
Still being restored, the shells have some scratches and hazing that is quite common with these shells. I've had to replace some of the hardware because, well because I lost some of them. I was a kid that didn't take care of his toys. Anyway, I'm using pearl's iss mounts to really help the shells sing. This also makes the kit look "modern". Sounds loud and bright. 13-14-16-22 with evans ec2's on the batters and evans g1's for the resos. An evans emad on the batter on the bass drum and a remo double ply pearl logo head up front. Sounds like a cannon. Using this kit for a few rock projects as well as reggae/ska. Hope you all like it |
