Italian made (UFIP) CB700 cymbals - 16,18,20

Loading...

ALL OF THESE CYMBALS ARE SOLD

Offering 3 cymbals. All 3 of these are CB700, from the 60s or 70s, made in Italy by UFIP.

Please see the following HQ videos:

You may notice another 18 CB700 on my left in some of these vids.....this is one I am keeping, and is clean. I think they all would sound better clean, but that is a preference thing. Despite this, I must leave these dirty as some of you drummers prefer the patina.

Look-see video looking at them (and listening a little):

Three playing demos:

Featuring the 16 and 18:

....featuring the 16,18, and 20:

16 inch Crash/Ride (best only as a crash) - 935 grams

18 inch Med Thin Ride (though very crashable - better primarily as a crash IMHO) - 1360 grams

-this 18 is actually a CB700/Solaris01 as you can see in the Look-See video

20 inch Ride (though very crashable - better primarily as a heavier loud crash IMHO) - approx. 2070 grams

THIS 20 inch CRASH / RIDE IS SOLD

Please PM me for more details

$200 plus shipping for all three; or make me an offer. I may sell 1 or 2, depending on the offer, though I would prefer to sell these 3 all together.

John

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

I wanted to update this listing as there has been recent debate regarding who made these. I am therefore not conclusively sure that UFIP made these, but can at least safely believe that these were made in Italy, as we have seen alot of these with the Made in Italy stamp on them - and all 3 of these are clearly from the same "Made in Italy" manufacturer and featuring the same lathing.

DISCLAIMER: This post features pics of a different 16inch CB700 cymbal that I own and is NOT one of the cymbals for sale.

So I have a different CB700 crash that I have always planned on cleaning. Well, I cleaned it and was amazed at how it sounded after all the patina and dirt was removed. Pishhhhhhhhh! A white wash of bright wet crash....with more sustainnnnnnnnnnn.

I just wanted to show you all what these cymbals could look like. It takes less than an hour to do a cymbal with BKF and is very easy on the elbow.

Interested patina fan parties - just so you don't panic, the cymbals for sale are still all dirty just for you. It is SSSOOO tempting to clean those up, but may be ruining a cymbal for you....so I will respect you even if it kills me!

Well - it killed me - in a manner of speaking.....killed my resolve - and I decided to clean that 16 that was one of these 3 for sale - because it had a lower pitch and I want a 16 keeper with a lower pitch. Well, it turned out beautiful! Beautiful looking that is. Yes, it is a bit brighter I suppose, but not enough additional wash and in general it was a backfire. This is not a cymbal I want to keep - but if it was based on looks alone I would sleep with it in my arms! - ok, maybe not - but you get the point.

Here are some pics - yours for $40 shipped (US only) Intl PM me for shipping discussion. I would describe this as a mellow/soft/drier crash - with short sustain. Top is brilliant, bottom is not. I can imagine musical applications (heard it done very effectively) but not something I would do.

I apologize for any confusion. This is the 16 in crash above my snare on the left side in all the videos. I might get another video posted about it soon, but pics only for now.

1) BKF

2) Zildjian Polishing Cream

3) Pledge

I will be making a video later for the 20 incher, though this can already be heard in the video (and maybe showing more of the cleaned 16). When I shot that video, there is slight distortion and this needs to be re-shot. Since I listed price of the cleaned 16, let me specify on the other two:

These would be very good for you jazz players out there looking for some cool cymbals without dropping a bunch of Ben Franklins on some Old Ks.

18 in Crash/Ride - $70

20 in Ride (though more of a C/R) - $80 SOLD

This is a very high pitched clean ride - exuding class and yet also including a great loud crash. Itself is a great sounding cymbal that I would keep (hard to let this one go) if not for the fact that it is pretty much the same pitch as my 18 keeper CB700. Frustrated at the incompatibility - but we'll see another day of hunting.

........or both for $140

These prices do not include shipping. Open to shipping these anywhere on the globe - OM me for shipping quote.

Thanks,

John

I shot another video because the first one including the 20 was too distorted and lacked clarity. Just listening to this now after the long YT upload - not sure I have this distortion issue worked out yet - and need to make an adjustment regarding exposure.

Sell some drums, learn to use your camera!

Ok -

I shot another video to show these - and then this one was done by using an external mic on my camera. It still is not exact, but at least it is clean.

These vids actually lack the highs a bit - but at least it is a clearer demo of how these sound.

I would say the tone of these cymbals are right in between these vids and the previous vids (including the playing ones).

I know I know - so many videos....well after over 300 views on here (and DFO) surely the new owner will arrive soon.

ask me about the 16 if interested and I will shot that one as well.

Throw me an offer and see where it goes!

I've had a few of these over the years. They went by various names in the marketplace CB700 , Procussion, others, I can't remember. Generally; these are really undervalued cymbals. I don't think they were made by UFIP but by Tosco. They usually have a little square ink stamped in red Made in Italy. The lathing is distinct, done in measured sections.
