Together Again! '71 DownBeat basically done...

There is more to this saga, but we are basically there. I couldn't stand having the bass apart any more, so I finished cleaning it and replaced all the hardware (all cleaned). Has an Emad on the batter side, not tuned yet. I sold my only bass pedal... Found a Speed-King at Guitar Center's site for $29. It was in budget, we'll see how crappy it is when it arrives today.

Thank you everyone for the help to this point. I will probably update these shots to the main thread...

Bass, tom, floor tom, hi-hat stand, throne are all fully restored, cleaned, polished, greased. Only exception is that the bass drum hoops need to be painted and holes plugged (again, sick of staring at the kit in parts). Snare is "as bought", filthy (not for long :) ). Snare stand, crash stand, ride stand are modern pieces, non-original. One, original Zildjian Crash is not pictured (avedis 16). That's a 15" Zildjian Hi-Hat (avedis), Italian made 18" Ludwig, and a modern 20" ride.

Wish it wasn't midnight... :)

Speed King is a good choice. Firstly, it will mate up to the deeper hoops of that era of Ludwig better than most other brands; secondly it's a great pedal (despite queaks and rattles).

By the way, great looking set!

When you get that Speed King, be sure to check for threads on how to restore them. Ive had one for a while and it sat in the corner collecting dust for 10 years..... until recently. I disassembled it and cleaned all the old grease (which had turned to clay) out. After re-grease and re-assembling it, I like it alot better than my DW9000 single pedal!

Thanks everyone!

The EMAD on the batter side of the bass is GREAT. I know it may not be for everyone, but I am over the moon. I have the thinner of the two foam rings in there.
