I am considering trading a new modern kit for a 60's Slingerland kit (20, 12, 14), but I am concerned that it has been rewrapped. There are no badges on the toms (there is a 60's badge on the kick), but when I popped the heads off, I couldn't see any sign of wood filler where the grommets would have come through to hold the badges on. Has anyone ever seen this? The owner purchased them from a store in Nashville a while back and couldn't tell me with certainty about the wrap. Also, why would someone re-wrap a kit and not put the badges back on the toms, but put it back on the kick. Very weird.

It won't confirm whether it's a rewrap or not, but Slingy toms did not have badges until the mid-60s.

Nice kit! My go to kit is a 1965 Slingy 12-14-20 champagne sparkle.

If I'm not mistaken, I read somewhere that Slingerland didn't put badges on toms until late '65. What are you considering trading for it? If the Slingerland kit is all original, it has some value. 14" Slingerland floor toms usually bring good money.

Thanks for the info. I'm thinking about trading a Mapex Saturn kit (22, 10, 12, 14, 16, 5.5x14) for the Slingerland. Any idea what the Slingerland is worth if it is all original? Rocketman Thanks! Nice, I am a huge champagne sparkle fan. |

That is Slingerland BDP, not a rewrap, pre-65 had no badges

Any other pics?
Are there dates stamped on the inside? |

deadhead - Thanks. That puts me more at ease.
edchapman - Unfortunately I don't have any other pics. The drums are date stamped, but they have faded a bit and I can read 196, but the final digit is unreadable. |

Do the toms have holes for badges? My 58 tom does not have a hole. I'm not sure if Slingerland ever made holes without badges. I'm sure someone else here can answer that.
