Default More Blaemire lugs on a refinished tom

I just finished this 8X12 today, with the newly re-chromed Blaemire lugs.
Pretty dang cool if I must say so myself...

Just out of curiosity Jerry, what not use a RIMS type of mount instead of drilling for a tom mount?

Beautiful kit too, BTW.

Well for a couple of reasons Gary.
This shell had already been drilled for a mount and all of the drums on my monster kit as well as most every Blaemire I have build have direct mounts and resonate as long as the day is long. I learned a while back that it is not the direct mounts that effect resonance. but the angle and length of the L arm that is supporting the drum that can cause a deadening of a drum. I spent all of one day testing out the theory and could always find the sweet spot by changing the L arm position. Once I found that out, I never looked back.
Makes for a tighter set up as well without the RIMS mounts.

Good info. For some reason I thought you posted about patching holes and thought with your attention to sound and detail, you might of used some type of iso-mount. Do you use any type of gasket between the lug and the shell? I told Greg after NAMM that I can still hear your kit in my head from Hollywood 2008, it's still resonating!!! I hope to be as lucky as you, Greg and Green Glass Drum one day.

Yes i do have some lugs left.If i re-call right i have some of the biggger ones i think they are 2" long, some small size ones 1 1/2" long and maybe some smare drum lugs..I will look over the week end and get a count..Iam going to be fair here and let Drumjinx -{jerry}- have first pick of the ones i have...I only wish that i did not use them up like i did i had maybe 400 of these lugs..A side story back in the late 80's i went to Mr.Bleamire's shop in the S.F.V. got a few snare drums from him they had Ludwig and Slingerland parts on them.He also had set's made up with Ludwig,Rogers,Slingerland,Camco parts on them also M.I.J. 60's parts on the sets..Some sets did not have a wrap these were the ones that had all M.I.J. 60's parts on them, the wrapped sets had the other parts on them...Mikey
