A while back, I remember reading and commenting about the stuff (pillows, towels, blankets, llama's and other small forest creatures) that is found in bass drums. Well... This is something to think about.
Over the last couple years, I had accumulated about ten quilts and blankets. Good ones, some nearly new. Mostly kid stuff, Disney etc... At a yard sale a couple weeks back, I noticed some ladies going through and buying quilts similar to them like crazy. In fact, mine were in better shape. I didn't keep them if they were funky... They had been just sitting on a shelf in the back of the garage, so I went through them and laundered the quilts. There was also a couple old army blankets.
Long story short. I put the quilts on C/L and over the last couple days sold each one of them for $5.00 each. Forty bucks... not bad, but now think about this. The two army blankets were WW2 issue. Mint condition and dated. I got $75.00 for the pair from a military collector.
Next time you pull that stuff out of a poor old misused bass drum, check it out before you trash it.
