Hi!

Yesterday I saw PJ Harvey live and it was great..

Jean Marc Butty, her drummer, has a fantastic Slingerland set.. I think it's a 26x14.. Can you confirm it?

I found this pic on the net:

Hey Andrea,

do you have any PJ CD's you can recommend?

There are 3 or 4 on Amazon.com for cheap!

Thanks,Blair

It depends on what kind of music you prefer.

The first 2 albums are more rock/grungy... To Bring You My Love is one of her best.. Is This Desire? has some electronic instruments.. Stories from the City, Story from the sea is the more popish (but really really cool), Uh Uh Her is a mix of rock and pop, then WHITE CHALK that is instrospective and calm (voice and piano) and the last one, LET ENGLAND SHAKE is already a masterpiece..

Anyone can tell me if that bass drum is 26x14?

I would guess either 24 or 26 x 14".

26 is most likely, 'cos the floor tom looks to have a bit of room, unless it's a 14"x 14".

Yeah- I'm THAT guy!!!

Looks like a 28 x 14 to me also. It's got 12 lugs, 26" only have 10.

Hi. Great looking kit, kick looks to me like a 28. The drumming on PJ's latest album 'Let England Shake' is top notch imo - simple grooves played with great feel, lovely 'ambient' sound (doesn't sound close miked). Worth checking out, but don't expect too easy a listen... She's a real original, that west country girl.

the tom is a classical 13x9

I didn't think about a 28! wow!

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaLuvTMdFQ4[/ame] this song start with the drums and if you have the cd on a good stereo it is really cool..

Do you think that 28" bass drums were made as part of drum kit or as marching band instruments? Jean Marc's bd doesn't have original legs but have legs mounted on the resonant hoop (but I remember that also Gene Krupa used that way on his 26" slingerland bass drum).

I think that the internal muffler is nice at sight with lights behind the drums. It seems a mark on the head...

I noticed that the bass drum weren't miked on front. Do you think they miked it on the batter head?

And I thought I was the only person left on earth that used a rivet cymbal.

Notice his small, probably 16" crash.

No Slingerland like an old Slingerland

You can see a dark circle silhouette of something in the bass drum in the darker photo - I figured he might have an inner MAY mic mounted on the inside or it could just be a muffler of some sort.

Cool track, by the way!

Hard to tell the depth but the 12 lugs is a dead giveaway for a 28". Looks like a much older drum than the 60's/70's Slingerland toms judging by the t-handle rods.
