Post VDF Demographic (Age) Poll

In response to the, 'Who is a vintage drummer' thread, I was curious about what the actual age breakdown is among VDF members. In the, 'Who is a vintage drummer' thread, I called VDF a, 'senior citizen center' but I seriously doubt that is true. There's only one way to find out for sure... take the poll!

Should be interesting/revealing I think.

LOL - I guess that makes you an old fahrt in training! Not bad though considering that at my age I have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel! lol

The more guys take the poll, the more accurate the results will be in terms of showing the average age of our members. Take the poll!

Okay, I admit it, John, I'm sixty-three. Let me qualify that though. Besides drumming and writing, I am a six feet , 230 pound bodybuilder/weight lifter. I have been doing this for about forty years. I can still bench 300 pounds and my upper arms are about 19 1/2 inches. I boxed amateur as a light-heavy many years ago with a record of 15-3-1. Drumsx2s has seen a recent picture of me . He can vouch for the veracity of my statements. Most things are in the mind. I haven't eaten sugar or salt for forty years. I take supplements and numerous vitamins and have never felt better. I drum about twice a week. Just because we are getting older, doesn't mean we can't rock anymore!

P.S. I still enjoy the occasional beer or maybe three though! Nobody's perfect, especially drummers!

Oh yes! there is hope I can be in shape and still drink beer,,,yay!!

Salty, I am impressed! keep rockin! ( iused to bench 315)

I just turned 50 in August. Started drums in 6th grade. Played thru high school. Sold my gear in 1970? Bought a drum set in 1984, played with a garge band but never went anywhere (too much beer). Took a very long break and now have started again ( for about a year now) and really love playing and restoring drums. I hope to get with a group ( blues) someday and just play again, not really gig for money just play for fun. Thats my story and Im stickin to it!

Salty - I said in a post that; if anybody ever messes with you, they'd have to go through me first.... now, I think we need to change positions. I'd feel much safer standing behind you! lol I'm also 63 (same generation) and despite some problems health-wise I feel great and I'm happier now than I've ever been. The one good thing to be said about aging is, how much more comfortable you get inside your own skin as you gain life experience. (Wisdom.)

I'll be 54 in October. I feel good about the fact that I've never stopped or took a break. I still play a couple of hours each day, mostly to my own compositions (I studied music at University). I started with vintage drums when a friend recommended a '20s Black Beauty for a recording project. Been hooked ever since. I now have a nice collection of snare drums (all of which are played and recorded), a modern Pearl high end kit, a BDP 'Ringo' '65 Ludwig kit, and a '20s Ludwig and Ludwig kit that I cleaned up and added period correct bits and pieces. Still have a few things on my list before I'll be satisfied.

I don't know, man. Something just doesn't sound right about that sentence. Anyway; pictures, pictures, pictures, pictures, (repeat).

(Just kidding) It's Friday.
