Camco Drums Are Worth A Fortune!

I just love ads like this with the absolute worst display and pictures.

Then you get someone voicing their opinion on how great the drums are compared to other Camco eras helping the seller think his price is on the money!

With the drums put together, cleaned up and set up in a nice display with better pics plus closeups, the kit could fetch around $2500 or more on a good day. His/her price indicates a 20/12/14 plus snare setup and a 22/12/13/16 just doesn't come close to that listing price. The 16 lug snare helps but not that much!

It's not an original Top Hat, Rolling Bomber or anything even close to that, it's just a run of the mill drum kit. I'd give him $650 tops.

I sold a LA era 4 pieces set for $2500 a couple of weeks ago...Add a very desirable snare like that wich should easily fetch $700.00 and you have a price bit that far from to what that seller is asking for that set. I guees he's adding the Shipping and Ebay fees on top of that. IMHO Camcos are on the rise and I think they will replace Gretsch RB on top of the food chain pretty soon If they havent already...

Not unless everyone in Japan and the EU has finally gotten a RB set...

Never play it the same way once.

Wow way over price set. This set is 50 miles for me,it was posted on C/L about 3 weeks ago for 1,000.00 O.B.O. with the cymblas that the seller has listed,I looked at the set but the condition was poor the bottom edges on the toms needed some work, the tom mount needed replaceing the white plastic balls on the inside were cracked.the set looked like someone repainted it badly in black,I did make an offer on the drums but the guy passed on it..I did offer him 800.00 of the set..Side note this LA Camco set is on C/L right now for 2,000.00.....Mikey

On July 4 some thieves broke into my garage and stole my drums which were in cases. Well, the drums happened to be my LA Camco set (circa 1971-72), 20" bd, 12", 13" and 16" ( I think) toms (along with a Mapex Black Panther snare). I was insured, but these drums, which I've played for more than 40 years, are like a family member. I don't know what to tell the insurance agent about the $ value, but they were all in good condition. Please see pic below--without one of the side toms. Any guess on value?

Thanks,

Ronnie in LA

That makes me sick, stealing drums is like stealing someone's soul! I hope the mother****ers get caught and get disemboweled with a rusty axe!!

Sorry for the loss...

The best thing to do IMHO would be to search out similar kits on eBay. Find out what they sold for (not what was asked) and print out the pages showing the amount realized.

Print out a bunch of pages...

Then get prepared to argue with your insurance company as they inform you they've seen many Tama Rockstars that look 'alike' sell for $200.00... and 'why would we pay that much for a forty year old worn out set of drums'.

Don't forget to include the cost of the cases, sticks, keys, parts, pieces, etc...

I wouldn't mention your Ludwig tom mount... my bet is an insurance adjuster wouldn't know the difference anyway.
