Default Am I right in thinking this is a Ludwig Auditorium?

I have not yet aquired this drum, but I have 'borrowed' it to do some research and fix it up a bit.

I originally thought it was a Jazz Festival but now that I have measured it, it sems most likely to be an Auditorium from the 1960 catalog (or Contest Model Concert Drum from the 1957 catalog) I guess it falls between the cataogs and they changed the name of the drum.

So, what I know:

Transition badge
15 x 6 1/2
WFL P83
WFL butt plate
Stamped ?Mar? 10 1959
P 4066 muffler
12 wire snare with PAT 2517124
8 x P95 lugs
Mahogany reddish brown finish
3 of the snare side tension rods are incorrect. I don't know if they have been changed or from what I have read, the WFL/Ludwig factory was a bit unpredictable at times!?!

My plan is to strip it down and give it a light clean.

Any tips?

Is the 'N' on the inside of the shell significant or just a scribble?

Well, I finished my 'light ' restoration.

Disassembled, cleaned, reassembled and tuned.

I've not properly tried it yet as it is past midnight! I will have a go tomorrow.

Now I just need to convince someone to sell it to me!

Yay!

This was just donated to me

It's not worth nearly as much as a Jazz Fest, but beggars can't be choosers!

I'll post a separate question about the snare wires - can they be straightened?
