Default Just bought this 6 piece Recording Custom?

How can I tell for sure that it is a Recording Custom? I contacted the seller and he is pretty convinced that they are. He has them taken apart to ship and he sent me these photos. Please let me know what you think.

Cool Re: Just bought this 6 piece Recording Custom?

If you can find out the model number from the badge, you can use this site:

http://www.yamaha.com/yamahadrums/drumvault/

Hope this helps!!

Cheers

They certainly look to be judging from the long lugs..The badge should indicate whether they are or not..

The inside of the drums are finished in the same stain as the outside so I figure they have to at least be somewhat high end right. The store is closed. Those are all of the pictures that I have at this time.

If you can get badge shots that would confirm it. My buddies studio here in town has one, great sounding drums. Certainly on my list to one day own.

There is a pic of the badge in the first picture but it is hard to tell.

It does appear to be recording custom from that. That looks like it's the second badge. Each tom had two ( or most did ) one around the grommet, and one other such as that one with no grommet. I'm not 100% as to why they did that, but I know they did.

Looks like birch, so I'd guess they are. The kit's twin is on reverb.

I finally got confirmation on the sizes and they are 8, 10, 12 rack toms, with 14 and 15 hanging floor toms. The kick is a 20. I cannot find these sizes in any catalog. Any ideas? The stain appears to be cherry.

They have the Cherry in the 86' Catalog, as well as the 20" bass drum. Same as with the hanging toms. The top left kit is the sizes you have without the 8". From what I can see in the catalog the normal toms were 8"- 15", the power recording toms were 10" - 16". Then the standard 14"- 18" floor toms.
