Default Purple Diamond Pearl Snare Drum

I have always preferred wood-shelled snare drums to match the wrap of my drum set. I played a chrome over brass snare drum for many years back in the late 1960s and early 1970s. But, I still preferred playing a wood snare drum. I recently acquired a great 1966 Silver Sparkle Rogers Top Hat drum set with no matching snare drum. My 1963 chrome over brass 5x14 Rogers Power Tone snare drum does a great job with this set. However, I think that my 1963 Walberg & Auge Purple Diamond Pearl 5x14 snare sounds better with the Rogers drums even though it doesn't have the same wrap as the drum set. This W&A snare is comprised of parts from Rogers, Gretsch, and W&A's own factory.

Nice, Howie. I know Rogers had that finish available, but never catalogued. I wonder why?

Nice snare Howie! It is safe to say I like this color a lot. A while back there was a feebay auction that had in the text that this pdp color was given to music store Rogers dealers to show the new Swivo designs. Rogers has turned up with the eagle badge and the 2 short lived script logos before 1960 regular script that lasted for about 10 years. Play the heck out of that W&A snare. She's a beaut!

Thanks, guys. Walberg & Auge traded metal parts that they made for drum manufacturers for leftover components to make their own drums for their local (Boston) market. They also bought the wrap colors that the drum manufacturers did not want to buy from the wrap makers. My guess is that a drum maker (probably Rogers) had some leftover PDP sheets or wrapped shells that they wanted to get rid of.

Only found for Rogers in the 1958 dealer swatches to be offered. Not in any cat. No bdp in those swatches just bdp in the catalogs.
