Robyn,
What a great idea and results!! Thanks for the progress reports and pics. Now I know what to do with all of my worn out tie dye shirts that I just couldn't throw out. Maybe for the hoop inlay. Cut a fabric strip fold in the edges, iron and then sewing machine the outside edges. Just like the belt loop on a pair of jeans. Velcro on the ends and just pull it tight to attach. Might work :-) Creighton

Sweet looking kit after all the work! This old 'head certainly loves them. I've seen more than 80 Dead shows and about 40 Jerry shows. Too bad we lost him so early.
The day Jerry died I was rebuilding the rim joists on my cousins' den. (The floor joists connect to the rim joists in order to secure them at the ends, for those not knowing what they are...) when he walked out and sadly proclaimed "Jerry's dead." I looked up and said, "Man, if I had a buck for each time I've heard that..." Then he said "This is the real deal, all over the news right now and it has been confirmed by the treatment center." So you all know what we did next...a little tribute to the end of our lives as we knew it...

you know....while working on this project, i would often think "i wounder what Jerry G. and the other Deads would think of this kit and if they would like it and want one to use for a tour. or any band from them days.
loosing Jerry was one of the biggest and saddest lost for the music industry. when growing up, there was only a few Dead songs i would listen too. i wasn't completely "on the bus", but i did respect the talent of jerry and the guys. whats really neat tho is that the younger generation love Greatful Dead and how often they play them on the juke box. my girls are... "on the bus" lol. long live the Dead!!! ps. thanks for the positive feedback guys. i love my tie dyes and to me, they sound as good as they look.

Fun to read through this again. Interesting so many of the members are gone now.
But to make people aware I will point out the reason thi thread was brought back. Its because Robyn has opened her heart and gifted this awesome kit to a drum brother in need. Its been an amazing story to follow, cheers to Robyn and pedalpusher for their kindness, thats what the world needs.
