Default Shoutout to MLayton, Cochlea , DeansDrums59 and Drumguy1988

Received this just after Christmas!
1965=-66 Ludwig Oyster Black Pearl Super Classic drum kit
Please see Drum Gallery
Sizes are 22/16/13 with my rewrapped 80's Ludwig Rocker snare. Wrap is in beautiful condition with some discolouring. No extra holes on bass drum . Set is not perfect but I am very happy with it. Inlays are reproduction.
Set may have been made of orphans (not assembled by me) but the wraps blend well so it looks great.
Based on serial numbers, bass is estimated as 1966 (no date stamp) , floor tom is estimated at late 1965 (no date stamp) and rack tom is 1966 ( date stamped Sept 1966) . This has been my "dream kit" for a long time and now it joins my 65 Oyster Blue Pearl Super Classic set.
My pictures do not do it justice. but the silver does "pop". Thanks for encouragement from many people including MLayton, Cochlea , DeansDrums59 and Drumguy1988. Great folks helping other folks on this forum!

to the OBP club. I know how long you've been searching for a matching 14x22 bass drum to complete your kit. I'm glad you were able to find a 3-piece kit so that you didn't have to wait any longer for an orphan bass drum to come up for sale. I really like the Ringo vibe in your photos, including the logo head and spare sticks held in place by the T-rods. Your kit is now ready to play Shea Stadium (if it were still around).

Thanks, fellows!
For the full Ringo vibe, it would also need the Rogers tom mount among other things.......... but no way would I want to drill that bass drum to add to this set
I just added some Gilbraltar rubber tips to the spurs and looks great!

I am amazed at their condition considering the 'Ringo craze" where Ludwig ramped up production and I understand quality control suffered during the mid 60's.
Whoever put the repro inlay in did a great job and it is a pretty good match.
And yes, I am having fun with these drums and please ote the drum throne in the middle of the two sets (the other is a 65 Oyster Blue set) so I can play one or another when I feel like it...the best of both Ludwig worlds!
