Bob, I remember when you had this kit For Sale on craigslist. It's a real looker for sure.

You'll never find horses valued as low as on a horse trading forum.

Interesting !

I thought the same thing when I saw the same green colored L.A. era kit go up for sale at a well known pro drum shop in Washington state back in 2011. It sold for an outrageous sum of money after being on ebay for a time.

The good thing about this color is, you can always add a tom or grow your kit when ever you like because they sell it by the gallon at any home depot, it's a wood preservative for pressure treated lumber...It's not a close match, it's an exact color match...

Yes I agree, stains were cataloged throughout the Camco years.

They also had one thing in common..

They were not stains so to speak at all, because it didn't matter whether is was Walnut stain from Chanute or Oaklawn, or Stradivarius from the L.A. era, you could scrape the "Stain" off with your thumbnail and see fresh maple just underneath. It was more like a paint than a stain...

I'd like to see someone try and scrape off this new green that's being touted as coming from the L.A. era factory...

Let me be honest; every drum I have I would sell for the right price. Doing this lets me go after other awesome kits and also many of the drums I sold are back on tour or being used by working drummers around the world. That to me is more rewarding than having a room full of drums.

The guy that was selling these at the Chicago Drum Show told me they were professionally re-lacquered. When he set it out for sale, I did a double take. These drums are stunning. GLWS Manny.

I think they're gorgeous and worth every penny. Vintage drums are under-valued, in my opinion, compared to other vintage instruments. Imagine how much an equivalent vintage guitar would sell for. L.A. Camcos are awesome, and this color has no equal.

Thanks guys! When it ends I will set them up and play them again. I had sold off a lot of kits but this one.

I like to keep it to three kits so I am a few too many.

I agree, vintage drums are way undervalued and this kit is not only a beauty it's extremely rare since the mid 70s focus on drum kits was at the other end of the spectrum. I would imagine the only Bop kits Camco sold at that time were special order.

I also believe some of the problem of vintage drums being so undervalued is the disrespect so many drummers have had towards these instruments. Throwing them into the backs of vans without cases, drilling in Pearl mounts, and on, and on, and on...I watched it all as a teenager in the 70s.

Very, very few of the generation before me, 77 million of them to be exact, had no respect what so ever towards these drums that everyone now covets. They effect every market they touch and this one is no different...When the last of the boomers are dying off is when these vintage drums will start sky rocketing...
