Default Carl F Ludwig Rope Tension snare drum?

Ok guy's I got this drum yesterday, off of FB it's a 10x15 snare rope tension nickel over Brass shell.I know the strainer was added and is not original to the drum it looks like a 40's Leedy or Slingerland.
Now hear is the puzzling thing the badge is oval and reads Carl F Ludwig Boston,Mass I know that William Ludwig had a brother.
So is this drum was made before Ludwig was started in 1909?
Did Carl make this drum?
If anyone could feel me in about this drum.

Good Morning, William F. Ludwig's brother was Theobald (sometimes called Theo, or Ted) and he died from a sales call on a government drum contract in the Spanish flu epidemic of 1918. This is a very nice drum but I doubt it has anything to do with the prominent Ludwig family. Since it is a Boston made drum you can check out the site called Boston Drum Builders (I hope I got that name correct). You can also check with the Company of Fifers and Drummers in Ivoryton, Connecticut. Get some old marching sticks and have a ball. I bet it sounds like a million bucks!

And I found this which lists Carl F. Ludwig as tympanist and drummer...

I just skimmed a bit through some other searches and there are several patents attributed to a Carl F. Ludwig, as well....not sure if it's the same guy or not.

Maybe it's his own personal drum and he had a badge made for it....???? Or, maybe he made the badge himself if it's the same inventor/drummer....????

That would be my guess at this point. If he was an inventor as well as a drummer, then maybe he built his own personal drum and the badge was just for ID purposes....like an early version of a label maker -except MUCH cooler...

just some guesses

2 cents

Interesting drum! It was for sale somewhere else in the last year or two. Carl Ludwig was a well known percussive figure in Boston, but not as a drum maker that Iím aware of. My hunch is that the badge is an owners nameplate on a (possibly imported?) drum like those sold through band instrument stores. I donít believe there is any relation between Carl or this drum and the Ludwig drum company.
