Greetings,
This is the first time I've seen a "regular tripod" 1123-1 Hi Hat stand that uses a Speed King type linkage, where the pedal completely comes detaches from the stand itself. Has anyone else ever seen one? I know the Ludwig 1121 flat base model uses the Speed King type linkage, but I've never seen one on an 1123-1. I would say it's a DIY job, but the rivet/pin holding the metal "hook strap" on the stand looks original. Thanks for your input! V

I think someone modified that link so they could remove the pedal for transport and storage. Also could have been a replacement that someone didn't close back up. The replacement links came with the top part already installed and a new rivet to install it on the pedal. Someone might have just pried open the bottom part of the link and called it a day. The end of the link is square. The link on the Speed King is rounded for ease of assembly. If that hi hat were made like that, they would have rounded over the end as well.
Other people would have seen those in the wild if they every made them like that. |
