Yes, you would just need a new grommet.

I think I'm being played.
Sorry, I'm not playing you, I'm just new to this vintage game. I do have a vintage Ludwig kit (and have owned a couple of other vintage kits) but I have never done any work on the drums. I buy them, I play them, and that's about it. I have been considering taking on a project like this, but I am (obviously) not very knowledgeable.

And now I feel completely stupid.....

Don’t feel stupid,it’s a legitimate question.
Badges are pretty easy to install, there is a little set up you can get when you order a grommet, you can get it from Precision.
As for Johnny Ringo, “lighten up Francis “

You can call me johnny, you can call me jr, you can even call me ringo but you can't call me Francis, Nancy!
As for Chunkaway's question, according to his profile he's been a member here for nine years. One would think he would know a thing or two about vintage drums.

I have known Chunkaway for quite some time. Great guy! And yes, he knows quite a bit about vintage drums for sure. Like he mentioned, he just hasn't done a bunch of work on them. Not everybody has. Heck, I wish that I DIDN'T know how to replace a badge...lol. Prefer original any day. But sometimes the need arises and this would be a good case of that.

Thank you, Mike, I appreciate the comment.

Yes, I have been a member for 9 years, and I have owned or currently own three different vintage drum sets. (A couple of Ludwigs and a Rogers.) However, that does not mean I have any concept of what is involved with working on/repairing these drums. I am curious though and I want to learn. That's one of many reasons I am a member here - to learn about vintage drums.

I understand, I don't do much restoration, in fact I hate restoring drums. I don't mind imperfections, although I have re-wrapped a few drums.
When I first saw your post, I thought it waa a legit question, then I read it again and thought, how could anyone not know a badge can be replaced, especially someone who has been on this forum for nine years. Surely this subject must had come up over the years. And it's not that you don't know how to do it, but that you didn't know it could be done. That just baffles me.
While we're on the subject, anyone have three keystone badges?

I knew that the badges could be replaced, but I didn't know anything about it. (For example, if I needed a specific kind of grommet, or if you could only replace certain era badges.) I figured if I asked an open-ended question, I would get some helpful responses. I have been a member here for 9 years, but I honestly don't come around that often. (I think I just passed 100 posts, to give you some idea.) I usually go to the For Sale section or look at the amazing vintage drums.

Fair enough, I guess I misunderstood what you were asking.
