Trixon Telstar
Hi all...
Thought I would share the latest addition to my Trixon family.. 1962 Gold Croc with the rare 6 lug bottom rack tom .. It has the original Telstar set up of the 16" floor going conical to 20" which they only did for a year before changing it to the 16x14

Nice one Dave, beautiful example. I really like the look of the 16 to 20 floor tom. No cymbal arm mount on the bass either.

Was just looking at very OLD receipts the other day...15-20 years old...
I bought a Trixon conical kit out of my newspaper wanted ad for....$100! Had Speed King too..I wrote down...KINDA remember a Acro coming with it...but too long ago.... Flipped it same day for $700..to a guy in Fla.....

Ok gang...here's the update on my new set...
new heads all round, missing tension screws now fitted to floor and rack tom, floor tom now has the Trixon badge and also the correct leg tightening black tensioner with new grey inserts, Bass drum has the Trixon Logo now and a good polish with Novus... Just need to finish off the rear of the bass drum and the t-rods then all done... Well pleased how it has come out....

I had my first Trixon Luxos kit a few months ago, I thought it was one of the coolest kits ever and started researching the Trixon history. Unfortunately, after gigging with it several times, I started to see why they aren't so popular. They have the mystique with the weird size drums, nice finishes and intersting hardware design, but they just didn't sound good, especially the kick. I just could not get any punch out of it. Luckily for me, I was able to trade it, although it did take some time.

How much did you tighten the t-rods on the bass drum head-if you over-tightened them then the sound would be a lot less and not as full mate. ....Back to the gold croc Telstar...pleased to say that as yet there is not another from this year that I have found .. so really pleased to have added this one to my ever growing collection....
