Default Thinking of going vintage Ludwig...
I've played Yammies for a long time, but thinking about selling the modern kit and going straight Ludwig 3 ply. Anyone just play vintage drumsets? Let's not include snare drums because in my view, some new snares are just as valid...like new Ludwig metal snares for example. Talk to me.

The more I think about it, the more I think my 60s Ludwigs are the sound. So much so that I'm ready to ditch my modern kit (of another brand). The only thing I think I'll miss is the better hardware, but I began using a snare stand to mount the rack tom, so that solves one issue. The only issue is try and keep the bass drum stable, since the bass drum legs are kind of whimpy on these old drums...

all I've got is vintage.
I've heard some great modern kits, but there is just something about playing an old kit.

And THAT from a young pup!
Shawn, every drum you play is older than you, right?

I love it when you younger guys come to the same conclusions as us old burps (from the other end)! Makes us feel like we've NOT lost all the marbles yet, anyway!

I did the same thing with Yamahas I had for a while. I miss them but truly dig my pre-serial Ludwigs -- warm 'n special like my old K's.

I'm 26 and ditched my last "modern" kit in January. No regrets at all man, go for it!

I just picked up a 9 piece 3 ply Ludwig to replace my Tama StarClassic Performers. Still waiting on new heads but just seeing those cool vintage shells is priceless. No regrets at all.......
