Very unusual. What do you think they mean in the advert when they say the inside shell diameter is larger than that of the plastic head? I take that to mean the head isn't going to fit, but surely that can't be what they meant. What are they getting at?

Certainly confusing. I could only assume they are talking about the inside diameter of the 'outer' shell, the one on the outside of the lugs. ???

There is an inner shell and an outer shell. The heads seat on the inner shell. The outer shell is covering or housing the lugs. I believe Grantro is referring to this outer shell (or lug housing) as the 'center portion'. The inside diameter of this outer shell is 'larger than that of the plastic head' per the poorly written advert. The scarcity of these drums probably says something about the sounds they produced.
