Default Slingerland COB 2 to 1 snare
Hi all,

Just received this Slingy 2 to 1 in a recent trade. 6 1/2 x 14, brass shell, original TDR throw and butt, great shape overall, just needs some surface cleaning and new heads.

Hoops are not original and I know these will be tough to find. Any ideas for stick saver replacements, OEM or otherwise, are more than welcome. Kinda pumped to have this in the collection and to get it ready to play!

Neat. Looks to have the one year only ('85) foil badge. How about a serial?

Thanks man. Serial is 578861, which would put it right at 1985 by Dr. Wenk's chart - definitely a foil badge. I knew there were a limited run of these (and maple too I think?) and adding a 6 1/2 brass to the collection was certainly appealing. It just needs heads and some surface cleaning. Replacement hoops are going to be a bear to find...

Sweet catch. Haven't seen one that late in factory production before, very cool. You can find replacement hoops at drumfactorydirect.com . I don't think they are brass though, but are the correct style. Correct Chrome over brass ones pop up on ebay somewhat frequently.

Thanks man. DFD is great and they are close to me as well. I'd take correct style over material at this point, as a combination of a 6 hole bottom and a 12 hole top will require some patience in any type of metal! May need to search for a similar marching hoop for the top. The internal muffler is missing as well but that's not really a biggie. I remove them all for playing purposes and store them, and a standard Slingy muffler should be relatively easy to find if/when I go to sell it.

Cheers...

Hey longjohn, wouldn't the factory hoops for this drum be chrome on steel (COS) sticksavers?

DFD doesn't currently advertise a 6-hole snare side, but if you send them a note, they might be able to help.
