Default Walberg and Auge wrap

What do you guys make of this wrap?
It looks to be on a late 50ís W & A kit.
OBP comes to mind but seems to have a lot more black than usual.
Opinions welcome.

Wayne

Possible re-wrap with newer bowling ball type of Oyster black pearl?

I have an early 1970's Ludwig Blue/Olive badge BD that has the exact same wrap.
Sorry but this is the best picture I have of the drum right now. It's like one step between the Ringo OBP and the Bowling ball type.
For the date of the W&A kit, it may be marked on the inside with the RGB maker date.

Definitely not a re-wrap.
The interior is the black interiors usually associated with George (RGB's father) so no dates. RGB seemed to start putting dates on the drums when he made them with the clear interiors starting around 57-58. Thanks for the picture Michael, it does look close to yours.
I see you and others have called it BOP and others OBP.
Is there a difference between the 2?
It does seem to have a mix between OBP and bowling ball wrap.

Wayne - It was just the way that batch came out of Delmar. The wraps did vary 'a bit' from batch to batch. That's why you see some psych reds that have more green, or red than others. My guess is it was just a run of the wrap where they used more black than usual in the mix.

It looks really cool I like it.

John

Thanks John, I pm'd you awhile back, Hope you are doing well. Thanks for the info and they are cool. Do you know when the start of OBP wrap was first introduced?
PS found this drum and going to give it to Jeremy, he says he has the Bass drum to go with it. Big Blue's little sister. 10 x 14 tom.

I actually just looked up in the Ludwig catalog no OBP in 57 cat. but shows up in 60's cat.
So can probably say it was out in 59.
Is Ludwig the only drum company that had OBP?
