Default P-100 Beater Angle Mod

I love the old P-100s, love how I can get them for 20 bucks, and the bouncy action. The real cheap ones tho often have no beater-angle adjustment, just the rocker fixed in place with flat-spots on the hex-axle and the rocker. The beater sits pretty far back, like a Speed King, and I like it forward a bit.

1 - loosen cam and beater-holder set-screws
2 - loosen rocker set-screw and remove
3 - slide axle out of right-side upright, and cam and holder off axle
4 - rotate axle 180deg [flat-spot on bottom]
5 - replace cam and holder [set-screw markings on opposite "plane" of axle]
6 - grind out the flat-spot on the rocker
7 - replace rocker with beater at any angle you prefer.

I even found a key-rod with compatible threads for extra ease of adjustment. Not that I constantly adjust the angle, but I'm currently working up my BD doubles and looking for the best setting.

I'm aware that the rockers are sometimes pot metal, but there's not really that much stress on the rocker, and I always take care not to over-tighten things anyway.

So there you have it - if you don't like the idea of grinding the rocker you can always try just moving the cam and holder to the next "plane" forward on the hex, and see where that puts the beater. I have an extra rocker tho and these pedals are cheap enough to acquire for parts/cannibalization.

Thanks Mark! I held off on this for quite a while thinking I'd be tapping out bearings and/or who knows what disassembly hell, but was extremely pleased to find that with the removal of the rocker the entire hex assembly slides out to the left. Sweeet!
