Re: WTB 60s MIJ Star hardware (Lyra/Majestic)

Oh, it's no big deal, thanks idrum4fun. :) I hadn't posted in forever, either.

Here are the only remaining things this kit needs:

1. Find a matching inlay for bass drum batter hoop (not...

Re: WTB 60s MIJ Star hardware (Lyra/Majestic)

I can answer a few of your questions:

1. Just find out what I have here (grey interior?)
Majestic badged drums are manufactured by Star, my guess is early 70s. I have a blue sparkle 16" floor...

Re: Sold My Remaining Stencil Set Yesterday

Completely agree with Trilok. I haven't owned a better sounding kit than my Rogers, but I really enjoy playing the 60s Star kit I recently restored. The 14x14 FT with its crazy thin shell...

Re: Tama Rockstar 6.5x14 lugs?

By the way, does anyone know what era this snare is from? 90s? 80s?

Re: Tama Rockstar 6.5x14 lugs?

Fair enough. I'd thought about drilling out the holes to accommodate slightly longer lugs, but was hoping it'd be easier to find the correct sized lugs than it apparently is. Thanks guys!

Tama Rockstar 6.5x14 lugs?

I just acquired a Gretsch Catalina Birch kit for next to nothing because it had severe water damage. I intended on restoring it if possible, but after further inspection, everything but the 10" tom...

Re: Picked up my dream drum set today

I would never drill a drum (at least a valuable American-made drum like Rogers that's in decent shape) that wasn't drilled to begin with. I'm also a fan of virgin bass drums, and while my 1969...

Re: Just got a Dixieland off eBay

That's a great deal. I have a 60s round badge 4103 (8 lug) that looks identical even down to the key holder and lack of internal muffler. Bought it in 2000 or '01 for $300.

Re: Seller Feedback

I meant to come back to this thread and humbly apologize. A couple weeks ago I came across the package that FloydZKing sent, I think even before I made the post above. It sat in a pile of old mail...

Re: Rogers Black Diamond Pearl Drums

I'd be interested if I didn't already own a Dayton era BDP Londonder. :)

Re: Seller Feedback

I didn't have the best transaction with FloydZKing. Not a huge deal as it wasn't a high dollar purchase, thankfully. Started out fine, but didn't receive all the parts agreed upon. I received an...

Re: WTB 60s MIJ Star hardware (Lyra/Majestic)

Bumping this because I'm still in need of the following:

(6) Tension rods - 2 1/2"
(1) Bass drum mounted cymbal L-arm
(1) Baseball bat style muffler for Lyra snare

The L-arm and muffler...

Re: Gretsch Renown?

Awesome, thank you both. It's obviously a 4103, and now I feel like a moron since the model # is stamped on the paper tag.

Does the serial number help determine approximate age?

Gretsch Renown?

I'm not well versed in Gretsch drums at all...yet this 5x14 wood WMP round badge has been my go to snare for years. Bought it off ebay and picked it up from a music store in Maryland (can't even...

Re: Zim Gar snare - decent price?

The toms and bass drums can be made to sound very good, however. So considering how well many MIJ drums (in general, not necessarily the snares, which I agree don't sound very good) age, I'm not...

Re: Zim Gar snare - decent price?

Good call. I wouldn't pay anywhere close to $100 for any MIJ snare of that caliber. I paid $60 including shipping for a 6-lug Star brand snare from ebay, only because it had some fairly uncommon...

Re: Rogers wmp holiday kit

I wonder if you'd garner more interest if you took photos of the kit setup with all the hardware and sold both lots as one full set. It'd be a shame to separate those stands from the set as both are...

Re: What is a good price for this vintage Rogers set??

See, I think 2.5k is a pretty reasonable offer. By no means did I think the seller will fetch $4k, but felt it's a somewhat reasonable ask given all that's included. It may be "just a Londoner" but...

Re: What is a good price for this vintage Rogers set??

Yeah, I'm always skeptical when I see Rogers drums at a much higher than average price, but after seeing what's included, $4k doesn't seem unreasonable. All original stands, pedals, throne, Rogers...

Re: An Estate Sale Find

You're correct, it's up to you based on your personal taste. I know many purists wouldn't touch the hoops, but others would. Personally speaking, I think it depends on the drum. If it's truly a...
