Re: New Year Pasadena Rose Parade Marching bands

I, too, wonder why the corp-style drums have taken over (completely) the marching band ranks. Rat-a-tat-tat-tat. I find this good for drum corp shows but totally inappropriate for a full marching...

Re: Question? Approx. Value Leedy

I didn't notice any extra holes. In which photo did you see them? I did see that the bass drum could be turned upright (with the badge at the top) which would place the tom rail at a more traditional...

Re: Which snare drum is this?

I have a full set, same color & style, of stencil drums. The snare is identical to this. Mine have (not 2 but) 3 re-rings. Mine are branded 'Kingston.' An interesting point: on most stencil drums,...

Re: Camco Pedal

I used a Speed King for many years (& still like it). I have, since, gotten a Camco and a DW5000. I find I now use the Camco most, the Speed King some, and the DW next to never. The chain-drive Camco...

Re: Gretsch: Sell the matching snare or keep with the kit?

My recommendation is to NOT split-up the original kit. It is worth more with all family members together & much more rare. Plus, in my case, a matter of principle. It is your set, though, so...

Re: TAMA Flat Base Stand

This looks about as close to the original '60's Ludwig flat base stand as I have seen. I like that! MarkE

Re: The Tama/Camco drum pedal

Hey, Brewkowski, I feel as if I could have written your post! I used my Speed King for many, many years & still love it. But, around 1997, I got a chain drive Tama/Camco to go with a newer set of...

Re: drum wrap ... anyone ever use PRECISION DRUM ?

I have always had good luck with Precision wraps. But, the (above mentioned) Walopus website looks interesting. MarkE

Re: Nickel Hardware

I, too, prefer the rich glow of nickel hardware. But, the upkeep required to maintain that shimmer is much more than with (well applied) chrome .

Re: Oh this hurts to see

That one looks almost as if someone went out of their way to trash it as much as they could. Sad!

Re: Technical vs Musical Drumming

I'd have to agree with Brandon's summary in the (above) video clip.
Also, I am certain there is a creative, yet tasteful, middle ground.

Re: Question about a set of Keystone Luddys..?

For what it's worth, I'd guess late 1967 or 1968 too, based on the style of tom mount on the bass drum. I also suspect the bass to be 20", rather than 22" due to the number of tension lugs present. ...

Re: Anyone here deal with Enrico Fazi on/off eBay?

At least Camo jackets exist.

Re: 1952 Ludwig Question

Bryan, the 2 drums you have pictured appear to be early to mid 50's WFL's and in nice condition (complete with nickel-plated lugs & rims.) The floor tom isn't of the Club Date line, though. If the...
