Re: Bend a Pang to a be like a regular cymbal????

But evidently the disagreeing parties here were inadvertently talking past one other by failing to note that you were both talking about entirely different cymbals altogether. (In addition you should...

Anybody see these?

They're not Constantinople's but still perhaps at least from the concert player's point of view, these can be considered as desrable rarities.

Re: Old factory Paiste Pictures

I saw a few of them, but not the whole bunch. Thanks for posting these.

Re: Bend a Pang to a be like a regular cymbal????

I'm wondering if the cymbal that Odd is talking about is not even the same cymbal that Bos is referring to. Namely because the 22" is riveted and the 18" is not. And it seems to me that Odd speaks...

Re: Bend a Pang to a be like a regular cymbal????

So now you guys get to hear what it sound like when a jazz trio invites some Chinese guy from Wuhan who's fully in the throes of a COVID-19 infection getting up and play a sax solo. O.K. here it is....

Re: Bend a Pang to a be like a regular cymbal????

Hey, gimme a break; they can't all be gems.

But you know, it's just like the late great Jack Benny once said: "Everybody's a comedian; it's just being funny that's the hard part."

So I decided...

Re: Bend a Pang to a be like a regular cymbal????

Hey, have you guys heard the lastest? Since Zildjian's has been shut down, only Paul Francis has remained at the foundry and he's been burning the midnight oil while tirelessly working on new R&D...

Re: Bend a Pang to a be like a regular cymbal????

Re-engineering a cymbal is never a good idea. You'll end up with a cymbal that's no good as either a pang or a crash. And then after that your newly created "good for nothing" cymbal has little...

Re: Zyn Cymbals

Very nice indeed. But not all are that good unfortunately. From my experience they run hot or cold. You have to hear then first to make sure you're not getting a clunker. But the best of them are...

Re: K. or not a K....

Re: Zildjean Pitch Black Cymbals

I know that. Just as with several such "inovations", Paiste did it first and then Zildjian followed. Zildjian has been playing follow the leader since the 1960's. Only they're supposed to be the...

Re: Zildjean Pitch Black Cymbals

More on the the topic, my comment had direct bearing on the sound itself. But you don't get that? Do you really think that coating a cymbal with lacquer doesn't affect the sound at all?

Wow. Now that's a "man-cave".

I've got one too. But my wife keeps invading it, and complaining about it.
