Re: Anyone here interested in hearing what a 22" pre-trans sound like?

Absolutely. I've got a 20" that I own and play. Other than that, I've not heard another 20 and certainly not a 22. Would love to hear it.

Re: Snare Identification

An interior shot might help as to identify whether it is a heavy 2 piece shell or a later one piece shell. The '18 model would be the heavy shell and have a very large bead as compared to later...

Re: Zildjian 16"

The large CO. in the stamp started around '80 I think. The solid ink logo on the underside was '82 and later. Hope this helps some.

Re: FOR SALE: 1970s Ludwig 6.5x14 LM402 Supraphonic Snare drum in *amazing* condition

Is yours the pointy corner badge or the rounded corner badge?. The pointy badge models bring considerably more, but certainly a NOS of any kind is going to have some substantial value.

Re: Ludwig - Combo Snare Plastic Lugs 3qty

The Ludwig Combo snare (composite black textured shell) came with plastic lugs. The Ludwig Educator snare came with plastic lugs. And I have seen one B/O badge Acrolite with plastic lugs.

Re: Ludwig Club Date 16" Tom? White Whale?

The floor tom from my Ludwig Educator kit...Maple Cortex....is an original center lug Club Date style and is 16x16. But I wouldn't generally lump it in the Club Date category though. Like Mark...

I have known Chunkaway for quite some time. Great guy! And yes, he knows quite a bit about vintage drums for sure. Like he mentioned, he just hasn't done a bunch of work on them. Not everybody has....

Re: How to repair 70's mount-HOLE on 60's bass shell?

I was just making sure that it wasn't an original Ludwig Gold Coast Cocktail kit. They are 18" bass drums with the sam double mount holding the top portion of a snare basket for the matching snare....
