Re: Vistalite bongos any thoughts?

I love that they have clear heads. Never seen that on bongos before. Nice little score.

Re: Wet sanding to remove paint from WMP

Thanks! The kit is 22/13/16. And it's been played out live a lot - because as a rewrap, I'm not at all concerned about damaging the finish. And when recorded, I've had engineers comment on the...

Re: Wet sanding to remove paint from WMP

Magnus,

I was faced with a similar dilemma. I picked up a 60's Round Badge that was painted red over the original Aqua satin finish. A crime but the reason why it only cost me $100! I tried for...

Re: Tom Placement

I think it looks fantastic the way you have it mounted. It is unmistakably "Ludwig" and i honestly doubt anyone is going to notice the badge (or the lack thereof). Play on!

Re: Gretsch RB, what heads are you using?

I've been using Aquarian American Vintage heads on my Gretsch Round Badge toms for years. They fit the slightly larger shells perfectly but more importantly, they sound and feel amazing and are very...

Stay At Home Drumming

Since I'm still in semi-lockdown mode, I've decided to break out a different kit each day to shake things up. Today's choice is a 1972 Ludwig Jazzette in the original mahogany thermogloss. Hadn't...

Re: How Do You Play? Matched or Traditional Grip?

I was taught traditional (with no options!) and so that is my natural go-to. Every now and again I'll flip to matched if it's straight ahead four-on-the-floor but my comfort zone for jazz, blues and...

Re: Down beats

Jaghog...here's one I own. It's a '71. I also have a matching 9x13 and 16x16 so I can expand it whenever appropriate. But the 20/12/14 is the size and sound that suits me perfectly.

Re: DW Buys Slingerland Name

Sadly, non-founder company ownership is the way of the world. Family-owned businesses are becoming incredibly rare and a lot of the iconic brands we know are owned by other conglomerates, sometimes...

70ís Ludwig Jazzette and Downbeat...

Re: Vintage Ludwig 3-ply, 12x18 Bop!

Thanks K.O. - This is a 1972 Jazzette, with a '72 Supra. I agree on the finish. These are mahogany Thermogloss which are pretty rare, though the finish on these is by no means "Showroom". But...

Re: Vintage Ludwig 3-ply, 12x18 Bop!

Great thread that keeps on going... Here's a pic that shows the interior of the clear 3-ply shell of my 12x18, along with the period and year correct Supra (added later).

Re: Thursday's dumb question of the day-Rogers

2 screws makes perfect sense. Interesting that my Swivo came with 3. I guess I just got a spare! Thanks for the tip.
