Re: Is it or isn't it...

Hey, I just saw this thread and that looks just like my router!

I have to mention how ironic it is that I ended up building a shell for the man who's previous thread on this forum started me in a...

Re: Should I be worried. Recent Slingerland EBAY purchase.

All's well that ends well. Good to hear. I hate to see someone get taken especially when it's a VDF member. I wouldn't have been any help if I hadn't done a local "Slingerland" CL search the other...

Re: Should I be worried. Recent Slingerland EBAY purchase.

Verminator- I think you unfortunately got scammed. Here is the correspondence with the CL seller and the link to the posting in Maine. His set is posted in a few different New England states. He also...

Re: Should I be worried. Recent Slingerland EBAY purchase.

The Craigslist seller replied to my inquiry and said he'd be around this weekend. . . . even though you just bought this same set on Ebay. Something is definitely wrong with this.

Re: Should I be worried. Recent Slingerland EBAY purchase.

Yes you should be worried. I saw that same pic on Craigslist-Rhode Island the other day and it's listed as being in Portland, Me. Here's the screen shot of the listing. I hope the Ebay set is for...

Re: Slingerland

Looks like another incomplete Avante set or perhaps a set that's been pieced together. I would make sure they are all 5 ply shells. The Avante set appears in the 1978 catalog and has 5 ply shells as...

Re: Why? Stave drum construction

Thank you John. How much are you paying?...... Just kidding. Now that I have some time, I'll break out the Presonus Audiobox, set up the mics and get a good recording if I can remember how to use it....

Re: Why? Stave drum construction

Thanks vm2k, I didn't like the fact that the wires came with the cables but I just wanted to put it together and play it. I'll switch it to tape soon.

Re: Why? Stave drum construction

Hey all, I haven't been active on the forum for quite some time and I have to say that it's entirely because of this thread. Back in February, I read Teverson's question and I went on a quest to make...

Re: Sling Copper

Yes that badge was pretty much the last hoorrah of Niles Slingerland and w. I have a couple toms that I ordered brand new in '86 and they were almost impossible to get at that point since the company...

Re: Rudiments in Rock Songs

Kansas - Carry On Wayward Son - Phil Ehart.

There's a single flam on beat 4 of the drum entrance as well as a number of other flams throughout the song. Hence, a rudiment other than a single...

Re: Rudiments in Rock Songs

What is Hip - Tower Of Power - David Garibaldi.

Main groove is a paradiddle between hi hat and snare and while stepping 8ths on the hi hat (at least that's how I've always heard it) and you'll...

Re: Unusual drum set up

Here's a Ludwig add from Modern Drummer Nov. '82. It's ironic that the heading of this thread is "Unusual Set Up" and the name for the mounting system was called "The Set Up".

Re: I promise never to complain about anything ever again. Ever.

That is incredibly inspirational! So much that I teared up watching it. It made me think of a person I went to Musicians' Institute with back in 1990. I don't remember his name. If you didn't know...

There's only one correct way to transport a drum like that.

Re: Lil Slingy Bop Kit In Green Sparkle!

That looks great!!! I really like how you made use of the floor tom leg brackets to become the BD spur mounts along with a cymbal mount and one to spare. The four legged floor tom worked out...

Re: "Sometimes When We Touch, the Honesty's Too Much..."

Ok, I didn't want to go this far but the call is for cheese. Well this cheese is coated in mold so here it is: I have to play "Butterfly Ki$$es" for a bride/father dance at a wedding this weekend....

I Have Been In You - Frank Zappa

Gotta love Frank's approach to cheesy love songs.

This doesn't seem right. Stolen?

Just saw this in Boston Craigslist. Maybe this listing is legit but these prices are way too good to be true. Smells fishy to me. (no offense Fishaa or Fishwaltz) Like someone has no idea of their...

Re: 1980's Ludwig kit - Rocker ? USA / Taiwan ?

Looks like mine and mine are USA. I bought them used in 1990. According to the vintage drum guide Ludwig Rocker page this incarnation of Rockers started in 1988 ( I suppose it could've been 1987 but...

Re: Finally Got the Kit where I want it....

Great rescue and great job on them. Enjoy them. They look really cool. If you have the room you may want to consider keeping that Tama set for those gigs that can mess up all that work you've done....
